Job summary

Amatriot Group, LLC is seeking a skilled Agile Scrum Master in Washington, DC, to lead SAFe-aligned teams and drive program increment delivery. The role focuses on coaching, facilitation, and removing impediments to ensure continuous flow and value delivery.

The candidate should have extensive Scrum Master experience on technical teams, strong communication, and ability to collaborate with Product Owners and Release Train Engineers. Onsite work required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 8-12 years of relevant experience or Master's with 6-10 years of relevant experience.
• Experience as a Scrum Master on a software development or other technical team (required).
• Experience using Agile project management tools such as Jira (required).
• Experience supporting multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced technical environment (required).

Responsibilities

• Agile Team Facilitation: Facilitate self-organizing Agile teams to meet Program Increment commitments.
• SAFe and Scrum Ceremonies: Lead backlog grooming, sprint planning, reviews, demos, retrospectives, and PI Planning.
• Product Owner and Backlog Support: Review and prioritize features; develop user stories.
• Metrics and Continuous Improvement: Maintain team metrics and identify improvement opportunities.
• Agile Coaching and Team Development: Coach teams on Agile principles and mentor junior Scrum Masters.

Position Overview

The Agile Scrum Master supports a large-scale software and hardware integration effort by facilitating one complex Agile team or multiple smaller Agile teams operating as part of an Agile Release Train. This role applies the Scaled Agile Framework to help teams deliver customer value, meet Program Increment commitments, and continuously improve delivery performance.

The Agile Scrum Master coaches teams in Scrum and Kanban practices, removes impediments, promotes effective communication and collaboration, facilitates SAFe ceremonies, and fosters an environment of continuous flow, accountability, and relentless improvement. This role also partners with Product Owners, Release Train Engineers, Project Managers, other Scrum Masters, and support personnel to ensure alignment across teams and successful execution of Program Increment objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Agile Team Facilitation

• Facilitate self-organizing Agile teams to ensure progress against Program Increment commitments.
• Protect teams from scope creep during Program Increment execution.
• Remove impediments and coordinate with the Release Train Engineer or Project Manager to implement solutions.
• Help team members communicate, coordinate, and cooperate effectively.
• Support and enforce Scrum processes and applicable Agile team rules.
• Ensure teams understand the Definition of Done and how to meet established completion criteria.

SAFe and Scrum Ceremonies

• Lead and facilitate SAFe and Scrum ceremonies, including backlog grooming, sprint planning, sprint reviews, demonstrations, sprint retrospectives, and Program Increment Planning.
• Coordinate with other teams across the Agile Release Train.
• Communicate team status, risks, dependencies, and impediments to management and other stakeholders.
• Promote teamwork and alignment toward sprint and Program Increment goals.

Product Owner and Backlog Support

• Work with Product Owners to review and prioritize features.
• Support development of User Stories that satisfy Feature acceptance criteria.
• Help maintain alignment between team execution, backlog priorities, and Program Increment objectives.

Metrics and Continuous Improvement

• Maintain and generate information radiators for supported teams.
• Collect and share team performance metrics.
• Determine when additional metrics are needed and develop improvements to measurement approaches.
• Identify opportunities to improve Agile processes, team productivity, delivery flow, and overall performance.
• Lead discussions when issues require analysis, triage, or process improvement.

Agile Coaching and Team Development

• Coach teams on Agile and Scrum principles with a focus on continuous improvement.
• Observe team dynamics, identify strengths and areas for improvement, and coach teams to improve productivity and collaboration.
• Promote knowledge sharing and experimentation with practices such as pair programming and cross-functional training.
• Guide teams toward increased Agile maturity.
• Mentor and train junior Scrum Masters throughout project execution.

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor's degree in a related discipline with 8-12 years of relevant experience; or
• Master's degree in a related discipline with 6-10 years of relevant experience.
• Additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Experience

• Experience working as a Scrum Master on a software development or other technical team. [Required]
