Job summary

The Iowa Judicial Branch in Des Moines is seeking a Business Systems Analyst to analyze business and IT systems and develop long-term solutions that support operational needs.

You will collaborate with stakeholders to define and document requirements, manage backlog, and provide ongoing clarification through the project lifecycle. The role emphasizes Agile, Scrum, and Kanban methods, strong communication, and process improvement.

Qualifications

• Ability to collect, analyze, and document business needs clearly.
• Experience mapping business processes and identifying improvements.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking.
• Excellent communication with stakeholders and leadership.
• Experience documenting requirements and user stories.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum/Kanban methodologies.
• Knowledge of BI tools and SQL is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with judges, court staff, business users, developers, and external partners to elicit, analyze and document detailed business requirements for new systems, enhancements, and vendor-provided features.
• Translate business needs into functional designs and user interface requirements; collaborate with technical teams and vendors to design, test, and implement solutions.
• Work closely with IT project managers, business stakeholders, developers, vendors and judicial staff to ensure alignment and clarity on requirement deliverables.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies such as daily standups, backlog refinement, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospective; maintain a well-prioritized product backlog.
• Design process flow diagrams, facilitate data-mapping initiatives, and lead cross-system reconciliation discussions.
