Job summary

CalPortland in Apple Valley, CA is looking for an Aggregate Plant Laborer to safely support plant managers, operators and loaders to keep the yard and facilities clean and well-maintained. You will assist with maintenance tasks, greasing, repairs, and may operate trucks and water vehicles.

The role requires a high school diploma, a valid CDL, and the ability to lift heavy weights. Overtime and weekend work may be required; MSHA familiarity is a plus.

Qualifications

• Drive company truck to perform similar duties at other aggregate plants.

• May be trained to operate forklift, loader, etc.
• Other duties as assigned by manager.

The Aggregate Plant Laborer is responsible for safely performing a variety of duties to assist the plant manager, plant operators and loader operators to keep the plant and yard clean and maintained.

Compensation

$23.50-25.50 USD per hour

Responsibilities

Education

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid commercial driver’s license with clean record
• Ability to lift 95 lbs. infrequently, 50 lbs. frequently, and climb stairs/ladders up to 24'
• Ability to use various electric and air-powered hand, welding, and cutting tools as appropriate
• Experience in welding and fabrication.
• Ability to work well with others in a group or one-on-one setting
• Be available for overtime, extended hours and weekends as required for timely project completion
• Working knowledge of aggregate production and associated equipment, and an understanding of operations and safety requirements is preferred
• Familiarity with MSHA regulations a plus

Conditions of Employment

Successful candidate must submit to a post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check. Some positions require Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) registration/clearance as well as ongoing alcohol and drug testing. For work that will be performed in the San Francisco area, qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records will be considered for employment.
