Job summary

Scale AI, Inc. is seeking Software Engineers for the Public Sector to design and build scalable backend systems for federal customers using cloud‑native AI infrastructure.

You will own a vertical feature or horizontal capability, working with stakeholders to define requirements and deliver features until acceptance. You will build agentic workflows, develop data pipelines, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver secure backend solutions.

Qualifications

• Full stack development across frontend, backend and infrastructure.
• Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and container orchestration know‑how.
• ETL, data pipelines, data modeling and governance basics.
• LLMs integration, retrieval augmented generation and agent orchestration familiarity.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Excellent collaboration and stakeholder communication.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable backend systems for Federal customers using cloud‑native AI infrastructure.
• Build features for agentic systems including multi‑layered guardrails and data retrieval optimization.
• Develop data pipelines and ML infrastructure for agent accessibility.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver backend solutions for secure environments.
• Participate in customer engagements to understand requirements and deliver technical solutions.
• Define requirements with stakeholders and implement until accepted.
• Contribute to platform roadmap and product strategy for the Federal business.
