Job summary

Normal Computing seeks exceptional researchers and engineers for its AI Research Residency, a flagship program housed across NYC and global teams. You will work with mentors, build agentic code-generation tools, and co-author papers while delivering production‑quality research code.

You'll collaborate with hardware teams, iterate on research with fast feedback, and present at a capstone colloquium. The role emphasizes ownership, collaboration, and contributing innovative ideas in a lean startup

Qualifications

• Pursuing or recently completed MS/PhD in CS, AI or related field; strong research track record.
• Solid Python skills and familiarity with modern ML frameworks (PyTorch preferred).
• Experience in turning research ideas into reproducible code and experiments.
• Interest in agentic LLM concepts, multi-agent systems, and RL variants.
• Ability to source and curate datasets with good data provenance.

Responsibilities

• Develop multi-agent and RL strategies and integrate as research prototypes.
• Build evaluation suites, task specs, benchmarks, and performance dashboards.
• Acquire and curate datasets from technical documents, including synthetic data.
• Scope and execute an original technical investigation with rigorous analysis.
• Co-author a research paper and present at residency colloquium.
• Work with founders, researchers, and engineers in a fast-moving startup.
• Turn research into production‑quality research code and potential customer features.
