Role: Lilly Agentic AI Engineer Lead

As a Lilly Agentic AI Engineer Lead, you will develop cutting-edge AI tools with a passionate team to accelerate Lilly’s drug discovery process. Your responsibilities include designing architecture, deploying scalable services/integrations, and developing software leveraging LLMs to assist researchers. This role demands deep technical expertise, guiding engineers to deliver high-quality solutions, and collaborating with teams across Lilly Research Labs, AI, Software Engineering, and external partners to advance medicine discovery.

How You'll Succeed:
  1. Design and develop robust, scalable, and secure software solutions.
  2. Lead and mentor engineering teams, fostering best practices such as code reviews, testing, and CI/CD.
  3. Build and maintain microservices architectures and APIs for seamless data flow.
  4. Implement containerization, especially with Kubernetes, for deployment and scaling.
  5. Collaborate across R&D, Data Science, IT, and AI/ML teams to translate requirements into technical solutions.
  6. Ensure system performance, reliability, and security through monitoring and improvements.
  7. Promote modern engineering practices and tools to enhance productivity and quality.
  8. Troubleshoot complex technical issues and provide hands-on support.
  9. Work with Principal Engineers on technical decisions related to scale and platform technologies.
  10. Monitor operational metrics and ensure effective AI/ML model integration into production environments.
What You Should Bring:
  • Proficiency in Go, Rust, Java, C++, or other OOP languages.
  • Experience with scripting languages like Python or JavaScript.
  • Knowledge of Containers, Serverless, Kubernetes, and hosting environments.
  • Ability to mentor junior engineers and conduct code reviews.
  • Understanding of HTTP and RESTful APIs.
  • Experience with test-driven development and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Background in systems engineering for distributed, high-throughput systems.
  • Experience with architecture modeling tools like UML.
  • Experience in refactoring and re-platforming applications.
  • Ability to build prototypes and conduct various testing methods.
  • Knowledge of algorithms for scalable execution.
  • Experience with AI/ML frameworks such as MLflow, PyTorch, TensorFlow is preferred.
Basic Requirements:
  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Software Engineering, or related.
  • 5+ years of experience in software architecture and engineering, with a proven record of delivering complex solutions.
