Role: Lilly Agentic AI Engineer Lead

As a Lilly Agentic AI Engineer Lead, you will develop cutting-edge AI tools with a passionate team to accelerate Lilly’s drug discovery. You will design architecture, deploy scalable services, and develop innovative software leveraging LLMs to support researchers daily. This role demands deep technical expertise, guiding engineers to deliver complex, high-quality solutions. You will collaborate with Lilly Research Labs, AI, Software Engineering, and external partners to advance medicine discovery.

How You'll Succeed:
  1. Design and develop robust, scalable, and secure software solutions, taking a hands-on approach.
  2. Lead and mentor engineering teams, fostering best practices in design review, code reviews, testing, and CI/CD.
  3. Build and maintain microservices architectures and APIs for seamless platform interoperability.
  4. Implement containerization solutions, especially Kubernetes, for deployment and scaling.
  5. Collaborate across R&D, Data Science, IT, and AI/ML teams to translate requirements into technical solutions.
  6. Ensure system performance, reliability, and security through proactive monitoring and improvements.
  7. Drive adoption of modern engineering tools and practices to boost productivity and quality.
  8. Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues efficiently.
  9. Work with Principal Engineers on scaling, platform technologies, and technical decisions.
  10. Monitor operational metrics and ensure effective AI/ML model integration into production environments.
What You Should Bring:
  • Proficiency in Go, Rust, Java, C++, or other OOP languages.
  • Experience with scripting languages like Python or JavaScript.
  • Knowledge of Containers, Serverless, Kubernetes, and hosting targets.
  • Ability to mentor junior engineers and perform code reviews.
  • Understanding of HTTP and RESTful APIs.
  • Experience with test-driven development and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Knowledge of systems engineering for distributed, high-throughput, high-availability systems.
  • Experience with UML and software architecture/design tools.
  • Background in refactoring, re-platforming, and prototyping.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML frameworks like MLflow, PyTorch, TensorFlow.
Basic Requirements:
  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Software Engineering, or related fields.
  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience in software architecture and engineering, delivering complex solutions.
