Job summary

VAE, Inc. is seeking an Agentic AI Engineer to design, develop, and drive agentic AI projects supporting national security missions. You will build reusable multi-agent orchestration patterns and define contracts for agents and tools.

The role requires strong software engineering fundamentals and hands-on experience with LLM-based agents and deployment in accredited environments. You will work with mission stakeholders to translate workflows into agent graphs and tool decompositions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree required in a relevant field.
• 4+ years of hands-on software/AI systems development.
• Active Secret clearance with ability to obtain Top Secret clearance.
• 8570 certification required.
• Strong proficiency in Python.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and drive agentic AI projects for national security programs.
• Build multi-agent orchestration patterns using LangGraph, Strands, or Bedrock AgentCore.
• Define tool/service contracts and integrate via agentic protocols (MCP, A2A).
• Develop a shared evaluation harness for agent behavior and non-deterministic outputs.
• Implement guardrails: human-in-the-loop checks, validation, graceful failure, cost/latency budgets.
• Collaborate with mission stakeholders to translate workflows into agent graphs and tools.
• Perform prompt engineering, context design, and model selection for authorized environments.
• Contribute reusable components to a shared agent framework for rapid deployment.
