This backend-focused role emphasizes production AI, scalable microservices, API development, and collaboration with product and engineering teams; hybrid schedule in Waltham, MA with a base salary of $127,000–$220,000.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of backend software engineering experience.
• 4+ years of experience integrating machine learning or large language models into production environments.
• Experience building APIs, backend services, and microservices.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and observability practices.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and optimize backend services, APIs, and microservices that support AI-powered workflows.
• Integrate machine learning and LLM solutions into scalable production systems.
• Own AI-driven features from development through deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement.
• Build evaluation frameworks to measure and improve LLM quality and performance.
• Troubleshoot issues across AI services, model-serving infrastructure, and backend platforms.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on system architecture, technical planning, and product initiatives.
• Enhance system scalability, reliability, observability, and overall performance.
