Job summary

NYC Public Schools seeks an Agency Attorney Intern, Enhanced Rate Equitable Services, to perform regulatory legal work under IDEA, NY Education Law, NYCR and Chancellor’s Regulations. You will draft responses to NYSED inquiries and compile Special Education Quality Assurance materials to help ensure equitable services.

Reporting to the Senior Advisor, this role supports workflow monitoring, training, and legal research; requires a US law degree or NY Bar admission and at least two additional

Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited US law school or NY Bar admission.
Two additional years of relevant work experience beyond minimum.

Responsibilities

Process enhanced rate equitable services requests and draft responses.
Receive, file, coordinate, and review determinations of requests.
Support office staff on IDEA, Section 504, NYS Education Law and regs.
Draft letters and memos to NYSED on administration of enhanced rate services.
Monitor workflow, deadlines, and prepare reports.
Analyze issues from requests and complaints to identify trends.
Assist in creating technical guides for training and reference materials.
Perform legal research.
Assist in trainings with Senior Advisor and SECM leadership.
Collaborate on trainings regarding the Enhanced Rate process.
