The City of New York seeks an Agency Attorney to investigate and prosecute misconduct by NYPD uniformed members. The role involves thorough legal research and preparing memoranda for executive review and final adjudication.

Under supervision with some independent judgement, you will contribute to disciplinary processes and uphold the integrity of the NYPD’s legal procedures. A Bar admission and relevant experience are required.

Qualifikationen

The Department Advocate's Office's mission is to ensure and maintain the integrity of the disciplinary process for all members of the New York City Police Department.

The Agency Attorney under supervision, with some latitude for independent judgement and unreviewed action and decision, performs legal work involving investigations and prosecution of misconduct by uniformed employees of the Police Department. These duties will often include research and preparation of legal memoranda after thoroughly reviewing investigative files. These memoranda are presented to the Executive staff of the Police Department for final determination and adjudication.

Monday- Friday/ 0900 X 1700

AGENCY ATTORNEY - 30087

1. Admission to the New York State Bar; and either "2" or "3" below.
2. One year of satisfactory United States legal experience subsequent to admission to any state bar; or
3. Six months of satisfactory service as an Agency Attorney Interne (30086).

Incumbents must remain Members of the New York State Bar in good standing for the duration of this employment.

In addition to meeting the minimum Qualification Requirements: To be assigned to Assignment Level (AL) II, candidates must have one year of experience at Assignment Level I or two years of comparable legal experience subsequent to admission to the bar, in the areas of law related to the assignment. To be assigned to AL III candidates must have two years of experience in Assignment Levels I and/or II or three years of comparable legal experience subsequent to admission to the bar, in the areas of law related to the assignment.
