Job summary

The Town of Westwood Recreation Department seeks a part-time Swim Coach for the Winter Session (November through early March) to supervise, instruct, and coach swimmers in age-group programs.

Responsibilities include planning daily practices, meeting lineups, and attending nine regular season meets plus the championship meet. Certifications in lifeguarding, CPR/AED, and First Aid are required; WSI is preferred.

Qualifications

• Prior swim coaching experience required.
• American Red Cross Lifeguarding, CPR/AED, and First Aid certification required.

• Provide positive reinforcement to swimmers.

• Recognize and respond quickly to emergencies.

Winter Session - November to Early March

The Westwood Recreation Department welcomes applications from qualified candidates for the part-time position of Swim Coach during the Winter Session (November through early March). The Swim Coach will supervise, instruct, and coach participants enrolled in various age-group programs.

Responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to :

• Train swimmers in competitive swimming skills and techniques.
• Plan and document daily practices; complete meet line up for age group.
• Attend 9 regular season swim meets in Westwood and surrounding communities, as well as end-of-season championship meet.
• Provide positive reinforcement to swimmers.
• Assist with skill development of participants in their group.
• Prevent injuries and eliminate hazards.
• Enforce rules and regulations in the Aquatics area.
• Recognize and respond quickly to all emergencies.
• Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications and experience:

• Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
• Prior swim coaching experience required.
• Current American Red Cross Lifeguarding, CPR/AED, and First Aid certification required .
• American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certification preferred.
• Ability to react quickly in various situations.

Salary and Benefits:

This is a part-time, non-benefit position; Salary range: $18.50 - $19.50 per hour, depending on experience.

Commitment: November through early March

Shifts Available:

6:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Ages 9-10 and 13+

Tuesdays & Thursdays

5:00 PM – 7:00 PM

Ages 8 and under and 11-12

Alternating Fridays

6:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Combined ages of 10 and under
