Job summary

The Westwood Recreation Department is seeking a part-time Swim Coach for the Winter Session (November through early March). You will supervise, instruct, and coach participants in age-group programs, with an emphasis on safety and skill development.

Shifts are in the evenings (6:00 PM–8:00 PM or 5:00 PM–7:00 PM) with alternating Fridays. Competitive coaching experience and ARC lifeguard/CPR/First Aid certifications are required; WSI is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Prior swim coaching experience required.
• Current American Red Cross Lifeguarding, CPR/AED, and First Aid certification required.
• Water Safety Instructor Certification preferred.
• Ability to react quickly in various situations.

Responsibilities

• Train swimmers in competitive swimming skills and techniques.
• Plan and document daily practices; complete meet line up for age group.
• Attend 9 regular season meets in Westwood and surrounding communities, plus end-of-season championship meet.
• Provide positive reinforcement to swimmers.
• Assist with skill development of participants in their group.
• Prevent injuries and eliminate hazards.
• Enforce rules and regulations in the Aquatics area.
• Recognize and respond quickly to emergencies.
• Perform other duties as required.

• Train swimmers in competitive swimming skills and techniques.
• Plan and document daily practices; complete meet line up for age group.
• Attend 9 regular season swim meets in Westwood and surrounding communities, as well as end-of-season championship meet.
• Provide positive reinforcement to swimmers.
• Assist with skill development of participants in their group.

Salary and Benefits:

This is a part-time, non-benefit position; Salary range: $18.50 - $19.50 per hour, depending on experience.

Commitment: November through early March

Tuesdays & Thursdays

5:00 PM - 7:00 PM

Ages 8 and under and 11-12

Alternating Fridays

6:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Combined ages of 10 and under
