Job summary

BLAST Sharks Swim Team in Burbank, CA is seeking an Age Group Site Swim Coach to lead swimmers aged 8-12, with five weekday practices and two weekend sessions. You will collaborate with the Head Coach to plan workouts, develop technique, and instill discipline and team spirit.

The ideal candidate holds ASCA Level 2 and current USA Swimming certifications, with prior coaching experience in age-group and senior swimmers.

Qualifications

• ASCA Level 2 certification or the ability to obtain it.
• Current USA Swimming coach certifications in good standing.
• Experience coaching age group and senior swimmers.
• Strong knowledge of stroke mechanics and race strategy.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Position Summary

The Age Group Site Coach will be responsible for leading and developing swimmers primarily ages 8-12, while fostering a positive, disciplined, and inspiring training environment. This coach will work closely with the Head Coach and coaching staff to help athletes reach their highest potential both in and out of the pool.

This position offers an outstanding opportunity for a motivated coach to build and grow a successful training site within an established, supportive, and ambitious club.

Primary Responsibilities

• Plan and lead five weekday afternoons and up to two weekend swim practices.
• Conduct dryland training appropriate for age and ability.
• Develop season plans and daily workouts emphasizing technique, skill progression, conditioning, race strategy, and athlete development.
• Foster a positive, motivating, disciplined, and team-first culture.
• Manage the site's training groups and communicate effectively with swimmers, coaches, and parents.
• Complete meet entries and assist with season planning for assigned athletes.
• Attend one to two weekend swim meets per month.
• Collaborate with the Head Coach and coaching staff on athlete development and program growth.
• Maintain all required USA Swimming certifications and coaching credentials.

Practices - Monday thru Saturday
Meets - Attend at least 1 meet per month

Qualifications

• ASCA Level 2 certification (or the ability to obtain it)
• Current USA Swimming coach certifications in good standing
• Previous competitive coaching experience with a USA Swimming club
• Strong technical knowledge of stroke mechanics, race strategy, training methodology, and USA Swimming rules
• Experience coaching age group and senior swimmers
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
• Outstanding professionalism, dependability, and integrity
• A positive attitude and genuine passion for mentoring young athletes
• The ability to build strong relationships with swimmers and families while maintaining high standards and accountability

Compensation & Benefits

Hourly Rate: $25.00-$35.00 per hour, based on coaching experience, certifications, and qualifications.
