Job summary

Ratto Bros., Inc. in Modesto, CA is seeking a Shop Mechanic to repair, maintain, troubleshoot, fabricate, install and rebuild agricultural equipment and company vehicles on-site.

The successful candidate will have 3–5 years of diesel and agricultural equipment experience, strong mechanical aptitude, and the ability to document work and follow safety procedures in a busy shop and on ranch sites. Knowledge of John Deere equipment is preferred, bilingual Spanish is a plus, and a valid Class C

Qualifications

• 3-5 years’ experience with diesel equipment and/or agricultural equipment.
• Proactive attitude and strong organizational skills.
• Knowledge of shop equipment.
• Deadline and detail-oriented.
• Class C driver’s license.
• Familiarity with John Deere equipment is preferred.
• Bilingual in Spanish is preferred but not a requirement.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic or pneumatic problems and repair with minimal help.
• Repair farm equipment discs, chisels, harrows and other farm implements.
• Diagnose, adjust, and repair diesel engines.
• Perform preventative maintenance on various ag equipment.
• Set up equipment as required.
• Proper documentation of work performed.
• Maintain shop equipment (grinders, drill press, welding machines).
• Perform 90 day inspection and routine maintenance as needed.

The Shop Mechanic will be responsible to repair, maintain, troubleshoot, fabricate, install and rebuild various agricultural equipment and company vehicles. The ideal candidate will have experience with various types of agricultural equipment such as overhaul trucks, buses, tractors, shredders, transplant equipment, implements and other heavy duty equipment. The majority of work will either be performed in a maintenance shop or in the middle of our ranches.
