Job summary

Sloan Implement in Newton, IL is seeking an Ag Service Technician to diagnose, repair, and maintain agricultural and turf equipment. You will work with industry-leading JD equipment and deliver excellent customer service.

The role requires basic mechanical knowledge, ability to read manuals, and willingness to participate in ongoing training. Flexible schedule and lifting up to 75 pounds are part of the job, with a non-exempt, full-time status.

Qualifications

  • One or more years of equipment service or repair experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Ability to perform repairs using technical manuals, specialized tools, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Strong communication and computer skills, including experience with service software.
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
  • Must maintain a good driving record in compliance with company Motor Vehicle Records criteria throughout employment.
  • Must pass a DOT physical and renew certification annually as a condition of continued employment.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds regularly and work a flexible schedule when needed.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical degree, Basic Service Technician Certification, or forklift certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on agricultural, turf, and precision ag (AMS) equipment.
  • Communicate maintenance recommendations and repair findings with customers and Service Manager as well as document work performed.
  • Participate in ongoing technical training to expand your skills and stay current on John Deere and competitive equipment.
  • Maintain tools, vehicles, and equipment while keeping a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
  • Complete work orders accurately and account for labor and materials used.
  • Follow all dealership safety standards and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Pay Information:

The hourly pay range for this position is $19 to $50. This reflects a reasonable estimate of the targeted base hourly wage for this role. Based on factors such as geographic location and candidate qualifications, actual base pay is determined when an employment offer is made.

In Season Hours: Monday-Friday 7am-5pm, Saturday 7am-12pm OR 7am-3pm (rotation determined by store)
Off Season/Winter Hours: Monday-Friday 7am-5pm
*In Season Hours may be extended during peak seasons (planting, harvest, or any other peak selling season) to meet the needs of the store. Extended Hours are determined by the needs of the store and subject to change. *
*Off Season Hours are from November-March. Start and end date to winter hours is dependent on year and subject to change. *
