Job summary

Children of the Valley is seeking an Assistant Youth Activities Coordinator to support the after school program in Mount Vernon, WA. Work 2:00–6:30 pm, Monday through Friday, supervising a classroom of 10–15 children and assisting with remote learning and daily homework.

You will help plan and implement academic curriculum, enrichment and recreational activities, lead games, prepare materials, communicate with teachers and families, and participate in staff meetings and events.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent and 1 year of youth experience.
• Experience with children and families from low-income backgrounds and culturally diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate program activities.
• Strong verbal and written communication; maintain confidentiality.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.

Responsibilities

• Assist in supervising the children and all activities during the after school program hours.
• Assist in developing, planning and implementing the program’s academic curriculum, enrichment, and recreational activities.
• Lead and manage a classroom of approximately 10-15 children, supervising and assisting with daily remote learning zoom classes and assisting students with daily homework.
• Plan and implement daily enrichment activities; using appropriate classroom management skills.
• Lead small and large group games and activities.
• Assist and supervise daily afternoon snack time.
• Assist in preparing materials and learning areas for the afternoon’s activities.
• Communicate regularly with school teachers, parents and families of the children.
• Participate in all staff meetings, program events and program fundraisers.
