Job summary

LeafSpring Schools in Stallings, NC is seeking a dedicated Afterschool Teacher to provide a safe, engaging environment for school-age children after school hours. You will lead hands-on activities, games, and group projects that promote creativity, teamwork, and social development.

You’ll support daily routines and build positive relationships with children while contributing to a caring, collaborative afterschool community.

Qualifications

• Experience in afterschool programs, summer camps, child care, recreation, or youth development preferred.
• Understanding of child development principles and developmentally appropriate practices (DAP).
• Friendly, patient, and enthusiastic about working with young children.
• Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.
• Ability to multitask, follow program structure, and adapt to children’s needs.

Responsibilities

• Support daily program routines including creative activities, homework assistance, snack, and outdoor play.
• Assist with planning and leading engaging, age-appropriate activities based on children’s interests and developmental needs.
• Supervise and actively participate with children during activities, games, and free play.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized program environment aligned with state licensing regulations.
• Foster independence, teamwork, and positive peer interactions using positive guidance strategies.
• Collaborate with other teachers and staff to create a welcoming, enriching afterschool environment.
