LearningWorks Afterschool (LWAS) provides high-quality academic intervention and enrichment programming for elementary students in partnership with local school districts.

LWAS is funded primarily through 21st Century Community Learning Center (21st CCLC) grants and is delivered in partnership with local school districts.
We are seeking an Afterschool Teacher to provide engaging instruction and academic support to elementary students participating in the LearningWorks Afterschool Program.
You will work closely with the Site Coordinator and program team to create a structured, inclusive, and supportive learning environment. You will help students strengthen academic skills, develop positive learning habits, and build confidence both inside and outside the classroom.
This position also includes lesson preparation, program planning, weekly team meetings, and required professional development.
Deliver engaging academic lessons and enrichment activities that reinforce school-day learning.
Provide individualized and small-group instruction to students who need additional academic support.
Differentiate instruction to meet students' diverse academic, behavioral, and developmental needs.
Establish and consistently reinforce clear expectations for student behavior in alignment with partner-school practices.
Review lesson plans, instructional materials, and substitute plans as needed.
Monitor student engagement and progress and adjust instructional strategies to support student success.
Maintain accurate attendance records and other required program documentation.
Collaborate with the Site Coordinator and program staff to support effective program implementation.
Participate in weekly team meetings focused on student progress, program implementation, and continuous improvement.
Participate in required professional development and training.
We're looking for an educator who is enthusiastic about working with elementary students and committed to creating an engaging, supportive learning environment.

Experience teaching or working with elementary-aged students.
Strong classroom management and student engagement skills.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
The ability to adapt instruction to different learning, behavioral, and developmental needs.
Creativity, flexibility, and a student-centered approach.
The ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, families, and school partners.
Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Google Workspace, Zoom, and other educational technology tools.
State of Maine Teaching Certification or eligibility for Maine certification.
Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field.
Preferred: Experience teaching in an elementary school, afterschool program, or youth development setting.
