Job summary

East Bay Community Action Program in Middletown, RI is seeking a School Age Teacher Assistant to support student supervision and daily program operations in NFCOZ/MCOZ Out-of-School Time programs. This part-time role will involve assisting with supervision, activities, and family engagement after school hours.

Hours are 2:00-3:30 or 4:30 at Gaudet Elementary or 2:45-4:15 at Forest Avenue and Aquidneck Schools on Mondays and Wednesdays, with professional development requirements and collaboration

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Associate's Degree and/or Teacher Assistant Certification preferred.
• Experience working with school‑age children in educational, childcare, recreation, youth development, or after‑school settings is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Welcome students and help create a positive start to each program session.
• Assist with attendance tracking, snack distribution, and student dismissal procedures.
• Provide active supervision to ensure student safety and well‑being throughout program activities.
• Support positive behavior management practices that align with school expectations and program guidelines.
• Work closely with Lead Teachers and program staff to support daily program goals and activities.
• Assist with preparing materials, organizing spaces, and facilitating student engagement.
• Help ensure activities run smoothly and provide support where needed.
• Adapt to changing program needs and contribute to a positive learning environment.
• Foster positive relationships with parents, caregivers, and families.
• Serve as a welcoming and professional representative of the program.
• Support an inclusive environment that values diverse backgrounds and experiences.
• Participate in a minimum of 20 hours of professional development annually.
• Assist with internal and external program evaluation activities.
• Follow all agency, school, and state policies, regulations, and procedures.
