Job summary

The YMCA of Northern Utah is seeking a substitute for the afterschool program at WE Community Family Center to supervise youth from 2:30pm to 6:00pm, Monday through Friday, under the direction of the on-site coordinator.

You will help maintain a safe, engaging environment that promotes belonging and achievement, support literacy and homework, and help plan family engagement activities, field trips, and daily lessons.

Qualifications

• 16 years of age or older.
• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Interest in working with youth.
• Must obtain Food Handlers Permit within 30 days of hire.
• Must obtain First Aid/CPR certification within 30 days of hire.
• Background check and fingerprint clearance required.

Responsibilities

• Work as an in-ratio staff member at the YMCA afterschool locations.
• Provide supervision of youth and ensure a child is never left alone.
• Ensure safety by setting and enforcing classroom expectations.
• Follow childcare licensing guidelines.
• Promote belonging, relationships, and achievement.
• Assist with literacy and homework during success hour.
• Set up materials for daily lessons with the site coordinator.
• Help plan family engagement activities, field trips, and Fun Fridays.
• Help close the classroom space at the end of the program.
