Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Birmingham is seeking part-time Afterschool Care counselors to serve as positive role models and supervise groups of children from school dismissal to 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday.

You will plan and lead a varied curriculum of games and activities, adhere to safety standards, build positive relationships with children and parents, attend required training, and participate in staff meetings.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• HS Diploma; college-level education preferred.
• Background and Child Abuse and Neglect screening completed.
• First Aid/ CPR / AED certifications required (valid 2 years).

Responsibilities

• Engage and supervise groups of children during after-school activities.
• Plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities.
• Maintain safety, cleanliness and adherence to YMCA policies.
• Build positive relationships with parents and staff.
• Attend staff meetings and required trainings.
