Job summary

The Somerville Public Schools COMMUNITY SCHOOLS program seeks a full-time Lead Teacher for the West Somerville afterschool site. You will lead activities, supervise children, and ensure a safe, engaging environment from dismissal through the end of the program, including summer sessions.

Responsibilities include leading group activities, supervising campers, planning and implementing curriculum, and coordinating with families and staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or related field and six months of experience with school-age children.
• Associate’s degree with three to nine months of experience with school-age children in supervised settings, or credits toward an Associate’s with relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead small and large group activities and supervise children.
• Discipline children per program policies and maintain a safe classroom environment.
• Plan and implement daily curriculum aligned with Somerville Public Schools.
• Attend meetings and collaborate with families and staff.
• Support summer program activities and pre-camp planning.
