Job summary

The Afterschool Counselor at 92nd Street Y supports children after school by picking them up from nearby schools and guiding them to the 92NY Afterschool Clubhouse rooms. You will supervise, ensure safety, and provide engaging, age-appropriate activities and homework help in grade-based spaces.

Afterschool runs Sept 14 through June 11. Training is mandatory before start date with bi-monthly staff meetings after dismissal, fostering teamwork and communication in a positive, inclusive setting.

Qualifications

• Pursuing Bachelor's or Master's in Education or related field preferred.
• Experience teaching specialty activities in youth programs.
• Ability to lead, plan, and implement activities.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Pick up children from local schools and escort to Clubhouse.
• Supervise daily and ensure safety of all children.
• Create and implement age-appropriate curriculum and activities.
• Collaborate with supervisors to support all children.
• Provide homework assistance as needed.
• Attend staff trainings and meetings.
• Foster inclusive and supportive environment for children.
