Job summary

Palo Alto Community Child Care is seeking an experienced Lead Teacher for the Kids Club in Palo Alto. You will oversee daily operations of the afterschool program, ensure a safe and engaging environment, and collaborate with teachers to implement age‑appropriate lesson plans and manage student behavior.

The role requires 12 ECE units and at least two years of classroom experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to obtain the Child Development Master Teacher Permit within a year.

Qualifications

• 12 ECE units including core units (Child Development: Curriculum; Child, Family & Community)
• Minimum of 2 years of experience working with children in an educational setting
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to manage and supervise student behavior
• Knowledge of child development and age-appropriate teaching methods
• Ability to obtain Child Development Master Teacher Permit within one year of hire

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement engaging and age-appropriate lesson plans for 5-11 year olds
• Supervise and manage student behavior to ensure a safe and positive learning environment
• Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and behavior
• Collaborate with other teachers and staff to ensure program goals and objectives are met
• Maintain accurate records and documentation of student attendance and progress
