Learning Through an Expanded Arts Program (LEAP) seeks a reliable Group Leader to work with youth in afterschool programs, delivering arts, performance, sports, and STEM activities in a structured, supportive environment.

You will supervise participants, prepare materials, assist in planning, and help maintain safety and positive behavior. Minimum 1 year of experience with children required; pre-employment screening applies.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or its equivalent is required.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience working with children/youth in a professional setting.
  • Ability to form positive, professional relationships with children, youth, families, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to model timeliness, attendance, and professionalism.
  • Pre-employment screening is required for this position.

Job Type: On-Site All Five (5) Days

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday (Generally: 2:00pm-5:30pm)

Weekly Hours/ Week : 17.5

FLSA Status: Non-exempt

Hourly Range : $18-$21 (commensurate with experience)

About the Role

Group Leaders are dynamic youth workers committed to working with the program team to deliver high quality, academically aligned arts, performance arts, sports, and/or STEM instruction to elementary, middle, or high school youth from the framework of positive youth development and social emotional literacy. This is a wonderful opportunity if you love working with children, in afterschool programs, summer programs and special projects.

Group Leaders assist Activity Specialists and/or Teaching Artists in all areas of programming from helping to maintain the safety and security of the children during program time, assisting in facilitating groups, following lesson plans as well as following the program’s administrative procedures and policies.

Supervise and engage program participants with the goal of fostering positive youth development

Prepare materials and space for various age-appropriate activities

Assist with planning, development, and implementation of various activities & events

Support effective classroom management and contribute to a positive environment by being adaptable, modeling positive behavior, promoting teamwork, & fostering a welcoming & inclusive environment

Attend staff meetings, professional development opportunities, training sessions, & special events to enhance knowledge & skills, as required, inclusive of those outside program hours

Required Qualifications:

High School Diploma or its equivalent

Minimum 1 year of experience working with children and/or youth in a professional setting

Strong ability to form and maintain positive, professional relationships with children, youth, families, and other stakeholders

Able to set an example in all areas, including timeliness, attendance, and professionalism

Ability to relate to officials, staff and public in a courteous manner

PRE-EMPLOYMENT SCREENING
