Job summary

Channel Islands YMCA seeks an Entry-level Afterschool Enrichment Leader to help plan and supervise childcare programs in San Luis Obispo County. You will oversee up to 20 children, deliver engaging activities, and ensure a safe, inclusive environment.

You must meet age and education requirements, have some childcare experience, and be able to obtain necessary clearances. The role offers a part-time schedule with benefits and flexible hours.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old and eligible to work in the US.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Must possess 48 college units OR an Associate's Degree.
• Complete district paraeducator exam or equivalent.
• 1 year of experience in a childcare setting is preferred.
• Ability to obtain Criminal Record Clearance and pass TB test.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, supervising, and implementing childcare programs per California guidelines.
• Supervise up to 20 children independently under state program rules.
• Provide quality care and supervision to children in a safe environment.
• Guide positive behavior, manage activities, and deliver lesson plans.
• Support Healthy Eating and Physical Activity standards and HEPA compliance.
• Set up and clean the program area and provide excellent customer service.

What does an Afterschool Enrichment Leader do?

• Assist in planning, supervising, and implementing childcare programs in accordance with guidelines from California department Education Expanded Learning Opportunities Programs


• Supervise up to 20 children independently under the guidelines from the California Department Education Expanded Learning Opportunities Programs


• Provide quality care and supervision to children (visual, proactive, interactive)


• Provide a safe environment for all children to thrive


• Guide behaviors using positive methods, keeping in mind each child's individual needs


• Carry out activities and lesson plans


• Ensure the program is delivering Healthy Eating and Physical Activity (HEPA) standards


• Set up and cleanup of the program area including vacuuming, sweeping, dusting, trash removal, etc


• Provide exceptional customer service and fosters connections with children and families


• Participate and satisfactory completion of in-service trainings


• Create an environment that is welcoming, nurturing, and inclusive for all children and families
