Job summary

Brooklyn Community Services invites applications for a Floater Afterschool Assistant Teacher role in the Education and Youth Development Division. This in-person position runs Monday through Friday from 2:45 pm to 6:00 pm at MS 409 - East New York Family Academy, with 13 holiday camp days per school year (8:00 am - 6:00 pm) when the DOE is closed.

The role supports a class of ~20 students, helping with lesson delivery, behavior support, and family engagement.

Qualifications

High School Diploma required. Some college preferred.
Experience working with youth in an afterschool or summer camp environment.
Must be flexible to work across all afterschool programs to provide coverage when needed.
Must pass a background check with NYC and NYS Department of Health and NYC Department of Education.

Responsibilities

Provide additional support as needed, including classroom substitute coverage and behavioral support.
Implement hands-on multi-sensory and project-based lessons aligned to the thematic curriculum.
Submit lesson plans for approval according to the submission schedule.
Assist lead teachers with lesson planning for field trips and supervise students during trips.
Engage with families and communicate as required by the site director.
Supervise 20 students during activities and transitions.
