Job summary

Barrington Park District is seeking a K.E.E.P. AFTER SCHOOL Counselor in Barrington, IL.

This part-time position supports staff in organizing and leading a variety of recreational activities for school-age children after school, including arts and crafts, sports, games and special events. Under the supervision of the K.E.E.P Site Coordinator, you will help ensure safety, manage behavior, and maintain positive relationships with participants and school staff while following the district calendar

Qualifications

• High School diploma is preferred.
• Current First Aid, CPR and AED Certification (will train).
• DCFS Mandated Reporter Training (will train).

Responsibilities

• Takes direction from the Site and Assistant Site Coordinators.
• Assists in the creation, organization, promotion and implementation of recreational activities such as arts & crafts, sports & games, music, nature study, special events and social activities.
• Attends all staff and program meetings.
• Reports any incidents immediately to the Site Coordinator.
• Maintains good relations with School District personnel.
• Arrives on time and is prepared for the day’s activities.
• Maintains discipline of the group.
• Is sensitive to the individual needs of the participants.
