Job summary

The City of Hammond is seeking an Afterschool Staff member to help run the Hammond Recreation Center’s afterschool program for grades 3–8. You will supervise, lead activities, assist with homework, provide nutritious snacks and dinner, and ensure a safe, inclusive environment both onsite and during field trips.

• Education: 2 years of college, preferably in Elementary Education or related field.
• High School Graduation with sufficient youth-work experience may substitute.

• Assist organization, planning, leading and teaching activity classes.
• Act as advisor, counselor, and go-to person for participants.
• Communicate, enforce safety rules for operation and welfare.
• Report activities, participants, plans and needs to supervisor.
