Job summary

Garden Grove Unified School District seeks an Afternoon Snack Worker to prepare and serve snacks for students, maintain kitchen cleanliness, and follow safety protocols. The role operates afternoons during school sessions, with potential extra hours to cover absences.

The position requires some paid food service experience and a California Food Safety Certificate (to be obtained within 90 days). Salary starts at $23.83 per hour with annual step increases up to $27.63.

Qualifications

• Some paid experience in food preparation and service is required.
• Must possess and maintain a valid California Food Safety Certificate. New appointees must obtain the required certificate within 90 days following appointment.
• Knowledge of sanitation and safety methods for food handling and storage.
• Ability to read menus, recipes and labels and to understand English instructions.

Responsibilities

• Prepares afternoon snack by heating a variety of food items according to menus and instructions.
• Oversees and serves afternoon snack to students.
• Cleans and stores food service equipment and supplies.
• Observes safety and sanitation procedures for kitchen and food service work.
• Compiles food items served and inputs production data into a computer program.
• Operates heating and refrigeration equipment safely.
• Coordinates with site staff and volunteers to meet program requirements.
