Job summary

Priority Waste Resources is seeking a Heavy Duty Machinery Mechanic in Detroit, MI to repair and maintain refuse vehicles and heavy equipment. Responsibilities include diagnosing issues, performing engine work, welding, electrical repairs, and assisting with DOT inspections.

The role requires at least two years of heavy-duty experience and the ability to work an afternoon shift in a team oriented environment.

Qualifications

• Commercial Driver's License is a plus but not required.
• Experience with maintenance to be performed on refuse trucks and heavy machinery.
• Minimum two years experience as a heavy-duty technician.
• ASE Certifications are a plus but not required.
• Must be able to perform basic inspections of brakes, drivetrain, emissions, hydraulics, transmissions, engine, steering and suspension.
• Must be able to work afternoon shift.

Responsibilities

• Keeps up on maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
• Performs engine repair and maintenance.
• Performs welding and fabrication.
• Scans trucks and troubleshoots mechanical issues using electronic tools.
• Performs electrical repairs.
• Assists with DOT inspections.
• Completes oil changes and greasing trucks/equipment.
• Repairs tires, including replacement when necessary.
• Performs preventative maintenance on vehicles to enable minimal downtime.
• Safely executes road service calls when necessary to ensure the equipment is being returned in a safe manner.
• Troubleshoots emissions issues.
• Actively problem solves.
• Executes work orders and turns into Maintenance Supervisor for company records.
