Job summary

The West Virginia Department of Education is seeking a Bus Operator to transport students in the Nicholas County area under the NCBOE salary schedule on a 200-day contract. The role requires a WV CDL with passenger and school bus endorsements, CPR/First Aid certification, and successful completion of the WV School Bus Safety program.

Responsibilities include operating school buses safely, maintaining route schedules, completing required paperwork, and complying with state and local policies.

Qualifications

• Must obtain WV CDL with passenger and school bus endorsements.
• Complete WV School Bus Safety program and pass requisite online certification and skills tests.
• Maintain CPR and First Aid certification.
• Pass a physical examination from a Medical Examiner per FMCSA requirements.

Responsibilities

• Operate the bus safely in accordance with state laws and district policies.
• Perform pre/post inspections as required by WVDE policies.
• Maintain accurate morning/evening route schedules and student rosters.
• Assist and supervise students with disabilities as needed.
• Report mechanical malfunctions promptly and coordinate repairs.
