Job summary

Irmo Chapin Recreation Comm is seeking an Afternoon Safari Assistant Site Supervisor to oversee daily operations at the safari site, assist in supervising staff, and help implement programs and projects. You will interact with parents and help manage fees and paperwork.

The role requires 4+ years in summer/day camp management or related fields, strong communication, judgment, and organizational skills. This is a part-time, on-site position with benefits for employees.

Qualifications

• Requires 4 years of summer/day camp management, recreation or education experience.
• Excellent communication and judgment skills are essential.
• Strong organizational and planning abilities; ability to respond to direction and supervise staff.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with parents and park/school staff.
• Regularly coordinate with Safari Director.
• Monitor facility and supplies.
• Maintain site files and records.
• Order snacks and supplies.
• Assist team lead with discipline and other concerns.
• Coordinate dispensing of medication.
• Ensure policies and procedures are followed.
• Manage behavior of children.
• Notify parents of incidents.
• Coordinate weekly staff meetings.
• Arrange substitutes for time off.
• Perform all other duties as assigned by the Safari Director.

Afternoon Safari Assistant Site Supervisor

Salary Range

Hourly Rate: 16.31

Job Description

Under direct supervision of the Safari Program Manager, the Assistant Site Supervisor aids in managing and directing the safari site, assists in staff supervision, coordinates implementation of program and special projects, interacts with parents and helps to record/process fees and program files/paperwork.

Specific Responsibilities

• Responsible for communication with parents and park/school staff
• Communicate regularly with Safari Director
• Monitor facility and supply use/condition
• Maintain site files and records
• Order snacks and supplies
• Assist team lead with discipline and other concerns
• Coordinate dispensing of medication
• Ensure policies and procedures are followed
• Behavior management of children
• Notify parents of accidents, injuries, discipline, etc.
• Coordinate and facilitate weekly meetings with staff
• Find substitutes for requested time off
• All other duties as assigned by the Safari Director

Qualifications

Requires 4 years of summer/day camp management, recreation or education experience, dedicated interest in the welfare of children and their family, effective communication skills, sound judgment, effective decision-making skills, high standard of accuracy and responsibility, self-reliance and enthusiasm, organizational and planning skills, interacts positively with park staff and public, responds well to direction by supervisor. Related education and experience in recreation management, education, childcare, or related field preferred.
