Job summary

A Place At Home - Fairfield South is seeking a caregiver to support an client in the afternoons with companionship, meal prep, light housekeeping, and running errands. This role centers on creating a safe recovery environment and helping the client regain independence while following the care plan.

Caregiver must be willing to drive the client and monitor changes, provide reassurance, and document care to ensure continuity with the care team.

Qualifications

• Experience with Alzheimer's and dementia care.
• Strong observation skills to recognize changes in condition.
• Knowledge of safe mobility and transfer techniques.
• Patience, compassion, and emotional reassurance.
• Good communication with clients, families, and the care team.
• Dependability and flexibility to meet varying recovery needs.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and report changes in the client’s physical or mental condition to the supervisor.
• Support medication reminders (non-medical, per care plan).
• Prepare light meals and snacks according to dietary needs and assist with feeding if necessary.
• Help with light housekeeping, laundry, and organization to maintain a clean, safe environment.
• Provide companionship and reassurance.
• Accompany the senior on errands
• Document care provided and communicate with the care team to ensure continuity.
• Respect and maintain client dignity, privacy, and confidentiality at all times.
