Job summary

DeKalb Health seeks a technically skilled individual to perform physical testing and inspection of gear boxes and components, and to assist in developing Salesforce inspection methods and processes. The role includes field service support as needed and requires coordination with Supervisors and Engineers to prioritize inspections.

Responsibilities include documenting and photographing as-received gear boxes, sketching assemblies, updating PGN steps, and performing non-destructive testing.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a 4-year university or 1–2 years of industrial experience OR High School Diploma with 5+ years in repair/industrial environment.
• Working knowledge of rotating machinery operation.
• Verbal and written communication skills; detail oriented.
• Mechanical aptitude and knowledge of welding, fabrication, millwright, electrical, and pipefitting.
• Ability to read technical drawings and assembly procedures.
• Ability to sketch simple outlines for quotes, engineering, and reassembly.

Responsibilities

• Document and photograph the as-received gear box and components as part of disassembly and inspection.
• Disassemble and sketch assemblies to identify components.
• Assist with developing Salesforce evaluation processes and implementation.
• Photograph rotating elements and components as directed.
• Make sketches and measure elements for repair.
• Perform non-destructive testing (borescope, dye penetrant, magnetic particle)
• Make repair recommendations for customers.
• Update inspection information and process steps in PGN.
• Prioritize and develop inspection schedules based on input from supervisors and engineers.
• Run mechanical tests on gear boxes after assembly and before shipping.
• Assist with gear box assembly.
• Support field service under supervision of field tech.
• Suggest process improvements for the Aftermarket Department.
