Job summary

A leading industrial equipment firm in Slidell is seeking a Gearbox Technician to perform assembly and disassembly of gearboxes. Responsibilities include accurately measuring components, performing light welding, and operating equipment like forklifts and cranes. The ideal candidate should have a high school diploma, strong mechanical aptitude, and good communication skills. Experience with industrial gear drive assembly is preferred.

Qualifications

• Capable of repairing large industrial equipment such as gearboxes, motors, and pumps.
• Able to operate a forklift and use an overhead crane.
• Experience with industrial gear drive assembly preferred.

Responsibilities

Job description

Gearbox technician will perform assembly and disassembly, set-up, and testing of industrial gear boxes.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assemble and disassemble new and repaired gearboxes.
• Disassemble geared products when necessary.
• Accurately measure gears, shafts, housing bores for proper clearances with calibrated measuring tools.
• Read assembly drawings.
• Assemble shafts, gears, bearings, and lubrication systems.
• Properly set-up gearboxes to ensure they meet specifications, tolerances, and other customer requirements.
• Perform light welding.
• Operate forklift and crane.
• Conduct safe rigging of materials.
• Check accuracy of work against blueprints and specifications.
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• Strong mechanical aptitude (i.e., automotive, diesel, heavy industrial equipment).
• Capable of repairing large industrial equipment such as gearboxes, motors, and pumps.
• Manual machining
• Welding.
• A team player with good communication skills.
• CDL is a plus,
• Able to pass OSHA training.
• Able to operate a forklift.
• Capable of using overhead crane.
• Experience with industrial gear drive assembly (preferred).
• Basic machining knowledge & use of inspection equipment (preferred).
• Basic math skill.
• Able to read blueprints and troubleshoot problems with critical & analytical thinking.
