Job summary

University of California, Davis is seeking a Neurology/Neurosurgery Afterhours/Weekend Technician to provide critical anesthesia and OR support in a high‑volume veterinary teaching hospital. You will train students and residents while ensuring safe anesthesia, patient care, and efficient surgical workflows.

Qualifications

• Must possess a California Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) license or hold a current license in another state and obtain a CA RVT license within 3 months from date of hire.
• No minimum education required.
• Experience to independently provide treatment for patients whose conditions can change rapidly.
• Experience calculating drug dosages and administering medications intravenously, subcutaneously, intramuscularly or orally.
• Experience performing venipuncture, placing vascular catheters, inducing and monitoring anesthesia, and recovering patients, with or without supervision.
• Experience in aseptic technique, surgical clipping and patient preparation, and circulation in an operating room.
• Ability to recognize normal and abnormal parameters and respond accordingly.
• Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills with diverse students, staff, clinicians, and clients.
