Job summary

The Downriver Family YMCA is hiring a Before and After School Care Site Assistant to help manage the program at Downriver school sites. You’ll support children's social, emotional, physical, spiritual, and cognitive development while delivering safe, engaging activities.

The role requires a high school diploma and may require DHS clearance, TB test, and CPR/First Aid/AED/Child Safe certifications within specified timelines. Location is Southgate, Michigan.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience supervising children preferred but not required.
• Meets state licensing/ DHS clearance and TB test within 30 days; CPR/First Aid/AED/Child Safe certifications within 60 days.

Responsibilities

• Attends to the needs of participating children in a safe, nurturing environment.
• Plans and leads daily curriculum-based activities approved by Site Supervisor.
• Set up and clean learning environments and prepare materials and supplies; ensure equipment meets standards.
• Establishes and maintains relationships with school and YMCA staff and participants through meetings and events.
• Maintains staff-to-child ratios and assists with housekeeping tasks.
• Serves healthy snacks and completes required paperwork; knows emergency site procedures and drills.
• Performs other duties as directed by Supervisor.
