Job summary

APEC Family Foundation in Georgia seeks Youth Mentors to support and guide children after school, delivering engaging activities that promote growth and social skills.

Mentors work Mondays to Fridays 1:30pm–6:30pm at South Fulton locations; candidates must pass background checks and have First Aid CPR certification. Prior experience with children is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• First Aid CPR certification required (Onsite training options available).
• Background check and any required training must be completed.
• Dependable, punctual, and able to commit to a consistent schedule.
• Experience with children preferred but not required.
• Higher education credentials (Bachelor's/Master's, CDA, TCC) are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Mentor children afterschool with activities that stimulate growth.
• Encourage and support students to build confidence and social skills.
• Help maintain a safe, engaging environment for ages 4-11.

As a Youth Mentor, you will be responsible for ensuring children are encouraged and supported. You will implement a variety of activities designed to stimulate student growth and development. With your guidance, students will explore new interests, build confidence, and develop essential social & emotional skills.

Since 2003, the APEC Family Foundation has been committed to offering exceptional childcare through our preschool and afterschool programs. Our afterschool programs provide a safe, engaging environment where children are well cared for, learn enthusiastically, and have a blast every day.

Program Information

• APEC Afterschool locations are primarily based in the South Fulton GA area.
• Mentors are expected to report Monday – Friday 1:30pm – 6:30pm (excluding school breaks).
• Each mentor has a partner and maintains a 1:15 ratio.
• Each location supports 30 – 130 kids daily, ranging from ages 4-11.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Health and Safety / First Aid CPR certification is required (Onsite training options are available)
• Must pass a background check and complete any required training.
• Dependable, punctual, and able to commit to a consistent schedule.
• Previous experience working with children/elementary education is preferred but not required.
• Higher education credentialing (Bachelors/Masters Degree, Child Development Associate (CDA), TCC) is a plus!
