Job summary

PLAE is seeking a part-time Assistant Group Supervisor to support students in a 20-hour/week OST program at the Northeast Community Propel Academy, Philadelphia. The role runs after school, Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturdays, in-person, with supervision of K–8 students.

You will facilitate hands-on curriculum across literacy, SEL, mentorship, and sports, assist with homework, and promote a safe, inclusive learning environment under the Site Coordinator.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of four (4) years of experience working directly with children/adolescents; afterschool/summer camp or similar setting preferred.
• Familiarity with School District of Philadelphia environments or grant-funded youth programming encouraged.
• Proficiency with administrative systems, program data tracking, and payroll platforms (e.g., Rippling).
• Required state and local background clearances prior to hire.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily hands-on activities (Literacy, SEL, STEAM, Sports) for elementary/middle school students.
• Assist with homework completion and academic enrichment during designated study periods.
• Supervise safe transitions and manage snack distribution and attendance.
• Maintain visual supervision and enforce positive behavior and restorative approaches.
• Engage with families during pickup; communicate student participation and updates.
• Collaborate with Site Coordinator to plan weekly lessons and prep materials; attend staff meetings.
