Job summary

Colorado Mesa University seeks a part-time Upward Bound Tutor to work at Central High School in Grand Junction. You will tutor students Mon-Thu 3-5 PM, assisting with math, English, social studies, and science, while building supportive mentor relationships to help students reach academic goals.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree, the ability to create a healthy learning environment, and availability for 20 hours per week during the school year. Spanish bilinguals are preferred.

Qualifications

• Possess a bachelor's degree from a U.S.-accredited institution.
• Ability to organize, coordinate, and structure a healthy learning environment for high schoolers.
• Received at least a B in all Essential Learning Coursework or equivalent.
• Ability to work 3-5 Monday-Thursday at Central High School (20 hours per week).

Responsibilities

• Tutor Upward Bound students daily, Mon-Thu 3-5 PM.
• Provide homework assistance for math, English, social studies, and science.
• Build supportive relationships and mentor students toward their goals.
• Assist the Upward Bound Advisor with administrative needs.
• Coordinate workshops and after-school tutoring with staff.
