BrightBee is seeking an After School Tutor to help students master challenging concepts and build lasting confidence through tailored study strategies in a focused, encouraging environment.

Lead groups through daily curriculum activities, monitor progress, and support a safe, inclusive classroom. This flexible, independent contractor role offers meaningful community impact and the potential to earn more by working at additional sites.

Qualifications

• 48 college credit hours
• CPR and First Aid certification
• Ability to work in a classroom setting with regular bending and lifting
• Clearance and background checks required

Responsibilities

• Lead a group of students through daily curriculum activities (World Languages, STEAM, Fitness, Maker, and Arts)
• Provide structured guidance on daily assignments and long-term projects
• Create a safe, low-pressure environment where students feel comfortable taking academic risks
• Utilize behavior management strategies with positive reinforcement
• Monitor students during breaks, lunch, recess and enrichments
• Cooperate with documentation processes and school staff regarding student progress
• Maintain safety as a top priority and keep spaces clean and organized
• Build relationships with teammates, students, families and school staff

• Monday- Friday (2:30pm-5:30pm)

What You’ll Be Doing

• Lead a group of students through daily curriculum activities (World Languages, STEAM, Fitness, Maker, and Arts)
• Provide structured guidance on daily assignments and long-term projects, ensuring students understand the underlying principles rather than just finding the \"right answer\".
• Create a safe, low-pressure environment where students feel comfortable taking academic risks and asking questions.
• Utilize behavior management strategies, with an emphasis in positive reinforcement
• Assist in monitoring student(s) during non-instructional times including breaks, lunch, recess and enrichments (PE, art, before/after school)
• Cooperate with necessary documentation processes, school support specialists, and other processes regarding the student(s) progress
• Make child safety the top priority at all times
• Keep the space clean and organized
• Help create an environment where kids feel supported and included
• Build strong relationships with teammates, kids, families, and school staff

Before You Start

To keep students safe, you’ll need to:

• Pass a background check
• Follow safety and reporting guidelines
• Complete required school clearances which you are responsible for paying.
  • Costs associated with the clearance process are the sole responsibility of the candidate, as this engagement is for an independent contractor role rather than a traditional employment position. Requirements vary by state but may include the cost of a background check, obtaining a copy of any college transcript you have, and the cost of completing Mandated Reporter training. The average cost of completing clearance in California for instructional roles is between $203-$218.
