Our work spans affordable housing, social enterprise, and a wide range of academic, social, and spiritual programs for all ages. You will join a passionate, caring team committed to walking alongside one another and our neighbors as we pursue long-term transformation together.

The Opportunity

As an After School Teacher Assistant, you will play a hands-on role in shaping the lives of kindergarten5th grade students in our neighborhood. This is more than a job; it is an opportunity to teach, mentor, and minister to children who need consistent, loving adults in their lives.

In this role, you will invest your energy in building relationships, supporting learning, and sharing the gospel in age-appropriate ways. If you love Jesus, love kids, and want your daily work to have visible impact in a specific community, this position offers a meaningful way to live out your calling.

What You'll Do
  • Welcome and supervise students each day, ensuring their safe transportation to Agape and a secure, nurturing environment throughout the program.
  • Actively engage children during all activities, modeling Christ-like character and building trusting relationships.
  • Lead structured activity and tutoring times that support academic growth, social skills, and spiritual development.
  • Positively manage classroom and individual behavior using consistent, age-appropriate strategies that foster respect and responsibility.
  • Present the gospel clearly to children and respond thoughtfully to their questions about faith, pointing them to Jesus in everyday conversations.
What Success Looks Like
  • By the end of your first semester, you reliably manage a group of students from arrival through pick-up with strong routines, safety, and engagement.
  • Students look forward to seeing you, participate actively in activities and tutoring, and show measurable improvement in behavior and focus.
  • Parents, staff, and volunteers see you as a consistent, joyful, and dependable presence who communicates clearly and follows through on commitments.
  • You confidently share the gospel with children, answer their questions with grace and truth, and help integrate biblical principles into daily program life.
What We're Looking For
  • An active, growing relationship with Jesus Christ and a desire to serve Him by loving neighborhood children and families.
  • A genuine love for working with kids, especially in group settings, with patience, warmth, and a sense of fun.
  • High energy and stamina to stay actively engaged with K5 students throughout the afternoon hours.
  • Ability to lead activities, manage behavior positively, and work well as part of a Christ-centered, collaborative team; a valid driver's license and solid driving record are a plus.
Compensation and Benefits
  • $15.00 to $17.00 per hour
  • A caring, supportive work environment and work that makes a tangible difference in the community
  • Part-time, 25 to 30 hours per week
  • Typical schedule MondayFriday, approximately 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with occasional evening or weekend hours
