Job summary

The German International School of Silicon Valley in Mountain View is seeking an After School Teacher to support students after school hours, with a focus on German language skills and creative activities.

You will supervise, mentor on homework, coordinate arts, crafts, sports and science projects, and communicate with families while participating in staff meetings and helping implement the after school program under the Head of Auxiliary Programs.

Qualifications

• German language skills required.
• 1+ years of professional experience in recreational school programs or similar.

After School Teacher

We are looking for candidates who enjoy working creatively with our students while supporting them reaching their learning goals and who will support the work of the school's leadership team with their pedagogical, communicative, and organizational skills. The teacher, together with their team colleagues, is responsible for the implementation of the after school concept, including accurate assessment of student’s progress, participation in department and staff meetings and team planning sessions, supervision of students, willingness to learn new methodology. Work hours will be in the afternoon between 1:30pm to 5:30pm.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• On-campus supervision of day-to-day aspects of the program
• Homework mentoring possible
• Communicate with team members and parents about student's progress and behavior
• Supervising children, providing emotional support and ensuring their safety
• Organizing and implementing arts & crafts, sports or science projects
• Organizing other recreational activities
• Respond in a timely fashion to all inquiries regarding the program
• Other duties as assigned by the supervisor or Head of School

Experience and Qualifications:

• 1+ years of professional experience in recreational school programs, homework mentoring
• Open-mindedness, organizational skills, creativity, and enthusiasm for improvisation
• Experience and competence in advising, communicating and working effectively with parents
• Must demonstrate competency with basic word processing and internet functions; as well as all applications used in the regular functioning of the school.
• Ability to ascertain which people may need immediate assistance and to act accordingly.
• German language skills required
• Valid US work permit required

FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt (hourly)

Hours: 20 hours per week (Monday-Friday)

Reports To: Head of Auxiliary Programs

Location: Mountain View

Pay Scale: $28.00 - $34.00 per hour worked, depending on experience
