Job summary

Brains and Motion Education is seeking a part-time STEM Instructor to lead after-school enrichment for grades K-8 in Santa Monica. You will guide hands-on activities, projects, experiments, and interactive lessons that spark curiosity, creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork.

Programs may include coding, robotics, math, science explorations, game design, and other hands-on STEM activities. You’ll follow BAM!

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of experience or demonstrated knowledge in STEM subjects preferred.
• Genuine interest in teaching and mentoring children.
• Previous teaching, coaching, tutoring, camp, or youth-program experience is a plus.
• Ability to confidently engage and manage groups of students in grades K-8.
• Strong communication, patience, and positive classroom-management skills.
• Passion for STEM, technology, science, mathematics, coding, robotics, or related fields.
• Ability to lead hands-on, interactive, and age-appropriate activities.
• Reliable transportation to the assigned school location.
• Current government-issued photo identification, such as a valid driver's license or state ID.
• Ability to successfully complete a required criminal background check.
• Willingness to complete required training.

Responsibilities

• Lead engaging, hands-on STEM activities that encourage students to explore, ask questions, and think creatively.
• Teach age-appropriate STEM concepts, from foundational skills to more advanced topics, based on the program and student needs.
• Explore technology including Python, Scratch, robotics, LEGO robotics, game design, mathematics, science explorations and more.
• Encourage problem-solving by helping students develop critical-thinking and teamwork skills through projects and interactive activities.
• Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment where students feel comfortable experimenting and learning from mistakes.
• Follow BAM! curriculum while adapting activities to meet diverse learning styles.
• Manage the classroom to maintain a safe, organized, and positive learning atmosphere.
