Job summary

Mundo Verde Bilingual Public Charter School in Washington, DC, seeks an After School Associate to support the extended day program and lead a Spanish immersion classroom, aiding transitions, classroom management and enrichment activities. The role develops daily lesson plans, facilitates activities, coordinates with a team, and participates in weekly professional development.

Hours are 2:45pm-6pm M,T,Th,F; Wed 10:30-6pm. TB test and background check required.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree
• Advanced or native proficiency in Spanish
• Bilingual preferred
• One year of experience with children ages 3-12; school setting a plus
• Interest in teaching career
• Urban teaching experience preferred
• Experience with students with special needs (inclusive setting) preferred
• Ability to work as part of a team with leadership and willingness to learn

Responsibilities

• Develop and facilitate daily opening circles
• Develop and facilitate team trainings
• Collaborate to lead a Spanish immersion classroom
• Lead weekly grade group meetings during training
• Plan and facilitate activities: read alouds, outdoor play, arts and crafts
• Develop and implement daily lesson plans
• Follow structured activity rotations
• Assist with student transitions from day program to after-school
• Support administrative tasks: supplies, attendance, snacks, incident reports
• Participate in after-school meetings and weekly professional development
• Attend school events outside regular hours as needed
• Optional: teach in Mundo Verde summer program for stipend
