Job summary

YMCA is hiring a Before and After School Care Site Lead for the Detroit sites. You will supervise, plan, and implement activities supporting children’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development.

The role involves coordinating with school staff, developing weekly lesson plans, and ensuring safety and compliance with licensing requirements. Experience in childcare is preferred; state licensing and DHS clearance are required.

Qualifications

• Meets state licensing requirements.
• DHS clearance before starting work.
• TB test within 30 days of hire.
• CPR/First Aid/AED/Child Safe certifications within 60 days.
• Blood Borne Pathogens, Redwoods, and concussion training required.

Responsibilities

• Attend to the needs of participating children and maintain a safe, nurturing environment.
• Communicate with parents via newsletters, calls, and in-person meetings.
• Develop and implement lesson plans with weekly activities including themed, STEM, literacy, and leadership initiatives.
• Set up and clean learning environments and prepare materials.
• Collaborate with school and YMCA staff in meetings and events.
• Serve healthy snacks and maintain required paperwork.
• Follow emergency site procedures and drill documentation.
• Perform other duties as directed by Supervisor.
