Job summary

Concordia Place in Chicago’s North Side is seeking a School-Age 365 Assistant Teacher to supervise children, support the teacher with planning activities, and uphold safety during afterschool and summer programs. This on-site CPS location follows the CPS calendar, with hours 2:30pm–6pm.

Qualifications

• Minimum: High school diploma or GED.
• Preferred: 30 total college credit hours with 6 credit hours in elementary education, child development, physical education, or related fields, or CDA.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and maintain safety of the children at all times.
• Ensure program and curriculum are whole-child focused and developmentally appropriate.
• Plan and implement classroom activities (daily/weekly plans, field trips).
• Facilitate transitions from preschool to elementary school.
• Maintain current knowledge in field.
• Cultivate positive relationships with children and families; share information for each child's success.
