Job summary

Concordia Place is seeking a part-time School-Age 365 Assistant Teacher to supervise and engage children after school. You will assist the lead teacher in planning activities, support child development, and help maintain a safe, welcoming classroom environment.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, with preferred 30 college credits or CDA. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to lift up to 30 pounds are expected.

Qualifications

• Minimum: High school diploma or GED.
• Preferred: 30 college credit hours with 6 credit hours in elementary education, child development, physical education, or related fields, or CDA.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Publisher).
• Physical ability to lift up to 30 pounds and perform routine classroom activities.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and maintain safety of the children at all times.
• Plan and implement activities with classroom staff based on developmentally appropriate curriculum.
• Organize and lead activities to promote whole-child development.
• Adapt teaching methods to meet varying needs and interests.
• Observe each child daily to tailor learning and support.
• Maintain a well-organized, safe, and welcoming classroom environment.
• Develop positive relationships with children and families and share daily updates.
• Attend staff and in-service meetings to improve professional competence.
• Help maintain a safe facility and respect confidentiality of records.

Overview

The School-Age 365 Assistant Teacher will supervise and maintain safety of the children, interact, initiate and encourage the children in activities, assist the teacher in planning activities, and nurture and care for the children. This is a part time role.

Schedule: 2:30pm-6pm

• Supervise and maintain safety of the children at all times
• Work with classroom staff to plan and implement program activities based on developmentally appropriate curriculum
• Organize and lead activities designed to promote whole-child development
• Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet children’s varying needs and interests
• Observe each child daily to assess skills, interests, and needs to use this information to facilitate learning
• Provide a variety of materials and resources for children
• Set up and maintain a well-organized, safe, and attractive classroom environment conducive to the optimal growth and development of children
• Develop positive relationships with each child and their family, share information about the child’s day
• Attend professional meetings, including staff meetings and in-service days provided by Concordia Place, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops in order to maintain and improve professional competence
• Help maintain facility in a safe and satisfactory condition
• Respect the confidentiality of records and information regarding students, parents, and teachers
• Other duties assigned by Assistant Director or Site Director

Qualifications

• Minimum: High school diploma or GED
• Preferred: 30 total college credit hours with 6 credit hours in elementary education, child development, physical education, or other related fields, or Child Development Associate (CDA)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, and Publisher)
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift up to a 30-pound child
• This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment. This position requires the person to talk and hear, long periods of sitting, and computer and phone use; other activities while performing this job may require lifting up to 30-pounds
